Kuting Reef: Leyte's Pride

July 03, 2011 Travel

I don't usually write about the resorts and hotels I visit, but this one is genuinely intriguing.

Unapologetically gay and proud, Kuting Reef in Southern Leyte takes great pride in predominantly employing a gay staff. The establishment features three restroom doors: ladies, gentlemen, and 'bading' (Filipino for gay).

The resort has everything that attracts tourists: a tropical ambiance, delicious cuisine, Bermuda grass, coconut trees, an infinity pool, and a fine pebble beach. However, what I believe truly captivates visitors is the exceptional service provided by its predominantly gay staff.

They even have an honesty store to prove just how nice the people are here.

The website claims it is Leyte's most intimate secret.

Kuting Reef is located in a private cove at Barangay Asuncion. It is about a 30 minutes drive from Maasin, Leyte. It's got a fine pebble beach and an infinity pool.

The rooms are crafted using indigenous materials while offering modern amenities that city folks seek, including air conditioning and hot and cold showers.

The alfresco dining area not only offers a stunning view of the sea but also serves delightful meals.
